Registration
1. Registering for a Club: Forms are in the wall bins outside the Martial Arts Room (145 RSF) below the bulletin board. Fill out an enrollment form, including the insurance information with policy number and sign the insurance waiver on the back. Do NOT step onto the mats to participate in a workout until this form is submitted to a club representative. Youths under 18 MUST have a parent or guardian sign the insurance waiver on the back.
2. Insurance: Forms are in the shelves outside the Martial Arts Room. The University Health Plan does NOT cover martial arts activities, and you MUST have insurance before practicing any of our martial arts. If you do not have additional insurance, you may join the United States Taekwondo Union as a convenient option. Fill out a USTU membership application form, fill in "UC Taekwondo" in the box marked SCHOOL/CLUB NAME, and prepare $28 in cash, make a check out to USTU, or fill in the appropriate credit card number information. Present your completed application and fee to an office representative BEFORE stepping onto the mat. USTU membership provides insurance for one calendar year.
NOTE: Karate and Judo have their own associations which provide insurance - see the appropriate club representative for details.
3. Trying out a Club: UC Martial Arts Program membership fees are NOT refundable. Verify your schedule before committing your payment. All prospective club members are entitled to try out at least two classes before paying membership fees; however, you must first fill out a registration form, sign the insurance waiver, and demonstrate proof of non-University health coverage prior to the workout.
4. Paying Membership Fees: Take your completed registration form to the Cashier's Office, located at the entrance to the RSF. The Cashier's Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. You may pay by cash, check, or Visa or Mastercard. Checks and charge cards require a photo ID. Checks must be personalized (no starter checks) and should be made out to UC Regents.
There are NO PRORATED FEES; the cost is the same regardless of when you join or how often you attend.
NO REFUNDS under any circumstances. There is a $20 returned check fee.
