Korea Trip - Summer 2009

What: Martial arts training and sightseeing in Korea.
Why: Learn more through martial arts training with accomplished professors, masters, and students.
When: June 9 - June 18, 2009
Cost: $1600

The UC Berkeley Martial Arts Program is organizing another training and cultural program in Korea for early summer 2009 and all are invited to participate.

This event is an excellent opportunity to take your training to the next level with multiple training sessions in a variety of Korean martial arts most days. Plus, with the sightseeing visits, you’ll learn much more about the Korean culture and people.

Registration

Notify UCMAP via email of your intent to participate and send a $200 deposit check (nonrefundable) made payable to “UC Regents” to:

Deadline for deposit: April 14. Full payment is required in May 2009. Contact Dr Russell Ahn (ahnc@berkeley.edu) for registration or more information.

Training

Taekwondo, yongmudo, judo, and kumdo comprise the bulk of martial arts training. All training sessions are led by experienced master instructors at Yong In University. Participants even train alongside accomplished students for exciting workouts every day.

Sightseeing

Included in the program are sightseeing excursions for participants to learn more about the culture of Korea. Visits to the Kukkiwon (the headquarters of Taekwondo), Buddhist temples, and the capital city of Seoul offer the opportunity to better understand the Korean people and culture.

Preparations

Begin your preparations for Korea by learning basic Korean and reading about a few temples and palaces.
